Notes for Psalms 119:6

Who:

“Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.”

—-Psalm 119:6 (KJV)

I believe this represents the believer and the Lord, who is mentioned in verse 1.

What:

“Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.”

—-Psalm 119:6 (KJV)

This verse is a continuation of Psalm 119:5 (KJV) which says, “O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!”

The theme for Psalm 119:5 and Psalm 119:6 is goodness. However, the Bible says we are all fallen sinners. Whoever studies the Word of God realizes that it points to Jesus who spilt blood for our sins and rose again on the third day. We are made righteous by faith in him. Romans 3:22-26 (KJV) states:

(22) Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

(23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

(24) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

(25)Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

(26) To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Where:

“Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.”

——Psalm 119:6 (KJV)

Today, the believer should exhibit Christlike behavior everywhere they go. The public as well as household family members behind closed doors should see the fruits of the Holy Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV), “love, joy, peace, longsuffering (patience), gentleness, goodness, faith (faithfulness), Meekness, temperance”

Finally, Galatians 5:25-26 (KJV) states, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”

Why

“Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.”

—-Psalm 119:6 (KJV)

Jesus is made unto us righteousness for those who place their faith in him as their Lord and Savior. Additionally, Jesus continues to sanctify us as we go about our daily walk. Those who dwell in him are not ashamed. I Corinthians 1:30 (KJV) states, “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:”

Romans 9:33 (KJV) also states, “As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

When:

Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.”

—-Psalm 119:6 (KJV)

Once we place our faith in Jesus,  we are his forever. Ephesians 4:30 (KJV) states, “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”

As Christians, we should always walk in a manner that honors our Lord and Savior who made it possible for God to forgive us. Our sinful nature makes us enemies of God. But those who abide in Jesus reside in a state of righteousness. Ephesians 4:31-32 (KJV) states:

“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

Takeaway for Psalm 119:6

“Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.”

—-Psalm 119:6 (KJV)

We inherited a sin nature. Mankind is fallen and doomed for the Lake of Fire. That is our fate without the blood of Jesus Christ making us white as snow. We have shame before a wrathful Heavenly Father without it. Finally, Jesus sanctifies us making us more like him in our daily walk.

Romans 9:33 (KJV) also states, “As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for sending your Son to die for our sins. Your Son Jesus paved the way for salvation, eternal life and fellowship with you. We know that we are not righteous without his blood cleansing us and making us white as snow before you.

Help us lead a life that honors you. Embolden us to give out the Gospel, telling the world how Jesus came in the flesh, spilt blood for our sins on the cross at Calvary and rose again on the third day.

In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

TWO PATHS – TWO FRUITS - TWO ENDS

“Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.” — Psalm 1:5 (KJV) Overall, Psalm 1 is a Psalm of contrast. It presents a path that ultimately leads to destruction ( Psalm 1:1 ) and a path that ultimately leads to a life where the “ leaf also shall not wither ” (Psalm 1: 2-3). In life, these two paths leads to two different types of fruits. The first (and righteous path) leads to fruit that is acceptable to God that derives from the abundant “ rivers of water ” springing forth from Christ at Calvary ( Psalm 1:3 ). The destructive path yields a fruit of chaff “ which the wind driveth away ” ( Psalm 1:4 ) . The ones who yielded the righteous fruit will have a joyous life everlasting where they belong to God and God belongs to them. In the final outcome, God will take the ones who yielded Chaff and cast them into the fire.  In Psalm 1:5 , once again you have a contrast presented. You have two types of people: the ungodly/sinners a

Mission Statement

To glorify God with Biblical and Christ centered writing. “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:” ——1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV)

Primary Goals

1.) The first primary goal is to bring non believers to a saving knowledge of Christ.  “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” ——Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV) 2.) The second primary goal is to encourage believers to look forward to eternal life and fellowship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and encourage them to give out the gospel. “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” —-I Thessalonians 5:11 (KJV)
