This can cause an individual to think about what self has done to get wealth instead of giving thanks to God who provided the means to wealth. An individual can say, “I have done this. I amassed this wealth. Not God. Who is this guy anyways? I don’t need him. I’m not sure he even exists.” “lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.” I think it should be the heart’s desire of every Christian to have enough wealth and income to provide for the needs of their family and themselves.
