Abraham: A Man of Character

“ Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.” Genesis 23:6 KJV People respect Abraham. This testifies of his character. God was definitely with him. For further reading: www.Bible.com

For God So Loved the World: An Illustration

“And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.” Genesis 22:2 KJV I believe this verse represents the greatest example of the Heavenly Father’s love towards the world which was represented by the giving of his Son to die for our sins. Abraham the Prophet

It’s interesting to note that Abraham was a prophet.  He was also a Christlike figure: an intercessor. “ Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. ” ‭‭ Genesis‬ ‭20:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬ For further reading: www.Bible.com

Plow Ahead and Sow the Seeds of the Gospel

“ And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. ” Genesis 19:17 KJV “ But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. ” Genesis 19:26 KJV The Lord doesn’t want us looking back. He wants us to look forward to being with him in everlasting fellowship with him. We should look ahead, plow and sow the seeds of the Gospel. For further reading  www.Bible.com

Jesus: The Blessed Seed of Abraham

“And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?” Genesis 18:17-18 KJV Jesus is the seed of Abraham. People of all nations who believe in him will have everlasting life. Jesus will also rule the Earth with perfect righteousness and judgment. For further reading: www.Bible.com

God Confounds the Language of the Arrogant

“And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.” Genesis 11:4 (KJV) “And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.” Genesis 11:6-7 (KJV) God does not like arrogance. I believe that is why he confounded their language. For further reading Bible.com

Christ is Our Ark

“ And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.” Genesis 7:1 KJV   I believe the ark is representative of Christ. Just like Noah and his family was spared judgment in that day, the believer will be spared from the final judgment of the unbelieving dead. The unbelieving dead will spend an eternity in the lake of fire. Those who accepted Christ as their Savior will be forgiven of their sins and seen as righteous. For further reading: www.bible.com

Noah is a Story of Judgment

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Genesis 6:5 (KJV) Noah is a story of judgment. I believe the Ark represents Christ and his plan of Salvation. For further reading: Bible.com

Abel: Keeper of Sheep

“ And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.” Genesis 4:2 KJV Abel was a keeper of sheep. I personally believe that this may represent another figure of Christ.  It may be one of the reasons why God accepted Abel’s offering. Cain offered fruits and vegetables. I think maybe Cain’s heart wasn’t in the right place. For further reading: www.bible.com

The Garment of Christ

“ Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. ” ‭‭——Genesis‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬ God still cared for Adam and Eve even though they sinned. Scofield thinks that this represents a “righteousnesses of Christ” and that this is the only way that Adam and Eve could be in the presence of God.  That’s the way it’s going to be for those who trusted Christ as their Savior in eternity. We will have the cloak of Christ who is our righteousness. This will enable us to have fellowship with a loving Savior in Heaven. God Says It and It Happens

I am fascinated by the fact that God makes things happen by simply speaking it. He created the Universe by speaking. He is Sovereign Supreme. We can take comfort that when God says it --- it happens: "And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." ---Genesis 1:3 (KJV) Last but certainly not least, God said that whosoever believes on Jesus shall not perish but have everlasting life. When God said we will have everlasting life when we believe on his Son, rest assured---that will happen. Praise Jesus! "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." ---John 3:16 (KJV) For further reading: Genesis 1 KJV (biblehub.com)
